Crochet Basics

In this course you will learn the basic stitches of crochet which will give you the skills to create your own items.

Course description

  • basic crochet stitches
  • which crochet hooks to use and with which type of yarn
  • reading and following basic commercial patterns. This will include understanding the difference between American/British/Australian terminologies

If you have any crochet patterns at patterns at home and would like help in being able to decipher and read them, please bring them to class

What you can hope to achieve.

  • you will make a number of beginner items and practice the basic stitches, for example a dish cloth or scarf, small toy or hat

What to bring/wear

  • pen and paper
  • optional – any particular threads/yarns you want to use
  • optional – any particular beads you may want to use
  • the tutor will provide a kit with a crocheting hook and appropriate yarns for you to use.

Important information

  • children must not accompany adults to Adult Education classes

To help us make your experience in our classes as enjoyable as possible, we may need to make some adjustments or special arrangements.
