Kayak the Beautiful Huon River
Enjoy a leisurely paddle on the lower Huon River exploring the Egg Islands and stopping for lunch on the foreshore of Franklin. Stable double kayaks provided. Total paddling distance is 14 kilometres.
What your course will cover

What to bring
- bathers and towel (optional extras if you want a swim!)
- jumper, sun protection (hat and sun block)
- water bottle (minimum 2 litres)
- your lunch
- a change of clothes for your trip home
Your tutor will supply all participants with
A double sea kayak, personal flotation device, spray deck, paddle, a light weight synthetic paddling jacket, wetsuit booties. They also carry a first aid kit, extra clothing and water, and all other related safety equipment.What to wear
Layers of synthetic clothing (long underwear) – please avoid wool or cotton as they remain wet and make the body cold.Important information
- You must be able to swim.
- Please ensure Adult Education has your mobile and/or after hours contact numbers. You will be notified if the weather is not suitable. This could be early on the morning of the trip.
- If you can not attend this class we ask that you notify Adult Education or Roaring 40’s directly on Ph 62675000 as soon as you know, as Roaring 40’s have to reserve and transport a kayak for your use. In line with Adult Education’s refund policy, no refund will be given if withdrawing less than 14 days prior to the date of the class.
