Course description

Stroll around one of Australia’s most interesting heritage areas. Learn the fascinating history of Battery Point’s shipyards, mansions, slums, pubs, factories and the Salamanca waterfront. Course notes provided.

What to bring/wear

  • The walk will proceed despite showers or light rain so bring a raincoat if the weather is at all doubtful. Please wear shoes/boots suitable for considerable walking and allowing for some degree of off-pavement walking.
  • Please bring a drink and snack to have on the way.

Cancellation procedures

If the class is to be cancelled it will occur at the meeting point on the day.

Important information

  • Please meet at 9am sharp.
  • While not strenuous this is a 4 hour walk and Tony covers quite a bit of territory. He needs to move at a reasonable rate to cover the advertised route. It is NOT suitable for people with breathing difficulties or for those who have difficulties walking.
  • Children must not accompany adults to any AE class.

To help us make your experience in our classes as enjoyable as possible, we may need to make some adjustments or special arrangements. If you have a medical condition, an infectious disease, a disability or special needs that may affect your ability or other participants to safely or comfortably take part in a class, please complete the Personal Fitness and Special Needs Form and return to the closest administrative centre listed on the form. If you cannot access the form online, please contact the organising centre and a copy will be mailed to you.
